Kinley Systems Sponsors Award winning Gardens at Malvern 2011.

Exceledge was delighted when two gardens that used different edging products from the ExcelEdge
range scooped prestigious awards at the Malvern Show this year. Two determined candidates,
Caroline Butler and Rachel Phillips used completely different edging products within their gardens
to unique effect.

Caroline with her "In the Balance” garden captures the theme of the "Atom” in celebration of
UNESCO’s International Year of Chemistry. The unique, weathered and preformed CorTen Steel
ring supplied by Exceledge provided the perfect frame for Caroline’s garden which incorporated
wet and dry schemes in either half of the circle to demonstrate the perfect balance of the atom
particle. As a result Kinley Systems are please to congratulate Caroline on securing the highly desirable Chris Beardshaw Mentoring Scholarship (CBMS) which will see her spending 1 year working alongside award winning garden designer and broadcaster Chris Beardshaw and gaining invaluable experience in the landscape industry.

Rachel, with her Budding Scientist Garden used the Exceledge AluExcel profile to provide the
internal edging of the garden and the frame edges to the access. The versatile aluminium profile
waspreformed prior to delivery to make installation accurate, quick and simple. The finished result
was superb with the garden also achieving a silver medal.

Both candidates were newcomers to the garden design field with this event being their first ever
attempt. For both exhibits to achieve such high awards is an excellent result and Kinley Systems
are delighted to have been able to offer their support to these enthusiastic and talented individuals
and wish them every continued success in their career.

Swedish Burger Restaurant Chain Adopts Exceledge in standard landscape construction design
Following a successful trial in Malmo, Sweden, Max Hamburger, a fast growing Drive-Thru
restaurant chain has adopted AluExcel AE150 and AE100 to provide an attractive edging system to the perimeter of the base of the restaurant as well as around the raised synthetic turf areas as part of their standard construction design. The flexibility of the edging as well as the corrosion resistant material made it an ideal alternative to the original stainless steel product that had been trialled. The lightweight properties of aluminium made the installation process quicker and easier but provided an equally attractive result.

Construction Method:

• Porous tarmac with concrete slurry reinforcing.
• Concrete base with synthetic turf

Bespoke Corten Edging at new Endeavour Primary School
Pre-formed Exceledge makes bespoke grade at Endeavour School

Exceledge has supplied aluminium AluExcel landscape edging and pre-formed its HiGrade CorTen steel landscape edging to provide bespoke profiles between paving, synthetic turf, planting and play areas at the new Endeavour Primary School development in Andover, Hampshire.

The architects at Hampshire County Council had designed an intricate landscape tableau that could only be achieved by utilising the pre-forming service offered by Kinley Systems on its Exceledge range. Using HiGrade ensured that the creative outlines required could be easily installed as well as providing a distinctive and durable CorTen steel finish.

Colin Lord, Senior Landscape Architect at Hampshire County Council, commented: "HiGrade provided the perfect solution for producing the raised CorTen edgings required for the school’s courtyard. Kinley System’s technical back-up, fabrication quality and accuracy were all exemplary, making a difficult design achievable without fuss or delay.”
